I've made other animations but this would be one of the better ones I've made. I made this animation as my final assessment for one of my subjects for VCE (Media), I was the only one doing animation so I was effectively setting the bar, which was good because there wasn’t anything else to measure up against
Here we have my fly animation, the story itself didn't need to be all that detailed as it was an animation it only needed to be around 20 seconds long at the minimum. The idea came from squashing a bug and then having to wash your hands because, well you've just crushed a bug between your hands. So then from there I took it a step further to the unlikely but in the case of animation, anvils drop on one’s head should kill you.
To make the fly itself, it had to be in pieces so that I could animate it. The wings moved so they needed to be separate and the same with the legs, though they didn’t move very much it was still necessary. So once in pieces all I had to do was assemble them in a single movie clip to get the desired look and easy usability of a single object, in this case my Fly. The wings needed to be transparent so using the alpha was the best way to go there rather than using individual transparent images imported into flash, which would not only have been more work but those images would have been pixel base rather than vector. Vector being much better as it doesn’t lose quality as you resize it.
Below you can watch the final animation; the most work would have been drawing up the set itself and then animating the set. The stage in flash doesn’t move, or at least not in a nice easy way for me to figure out on the go. So I had to make the set a single graphic and then animate that around to give the desired effect of camera movement, you will notice a rather odd manoeuvre where the camera passes the fruit basket and then goes back onto it, the aim here was to be more over looking and then glancing back to notice the basket and then zooming in to notice the fly.
Portal thing
There is no real reason why I made this, its a nice simple and short animation, I would have made this at some point while playing portal, I'm unsure when as there was no real need to make it other than for a little bit of fun. It's less of an animation and more of a comic, and rather than looking at individual frames I've strung them together.
